lots of people tipped him to be the next Rossi..yet Marco Simoncelli will be in our heart for a reason that we do not ever wanted..organizers had confirmed that Simoncelli has died after several attempts to saves his life..just glad that Malaysian’s track authority was there where needed the most..
Michele Macchiagodena, MotoGP Medical Director said,
“I’m very sad to be here to report about the death of Marco Simoncelli, a friend. Because of the crash he had during the race, in which he was hit by other riders, he suffered a very serious trauma to the head, to the neck and the chest. When our medical staff got to him he was unconscious. In the ambulance because there was a cardiac arrest they started CPR (cardiac pulmonary resuscitation). Immediately in the Medical Centre, with the help also of the Doctor of our staff at the Clinica Mobile and local Doctors, he was intubated and it was possible to take off some blood from the thorax. The CPR was continued for 45 minutes because we tried to help him for as long as we thought it was possible. Unfortunately it was not possible to help him and at 16:56 (local time) we had to declare he was dead.”
at least all personnel knows what they are doing..even the red flag call was right..
In 2003, Suzuka Circuit, Japanese Grand Prix, Daijiro Kato was hit the wall and his body was thrown back into the race track..however, red flag was not even waved..the race still goes on..the Workers just dragged his body and lift him up into the stretcher..a move that SHOULD NOT be done for someone who with suspected neck injury..the movement of the body might be worsen his condition..
Daijiro Kato spent several weeks in the medical centre before announced dead by the officials..
yup..at least..in Malaysia..we are doing it right..
RIP Marco Simoncelli..
